If you are involved in an auto accident and the other party presents you with a "policy" by DriveTime...BEWARE! That is ONLY comprehensive and covers their vehicle only!

If they don't have other insurance for liability, which they are supposed to carry, then they are uninsured, and any damage to your vehicle will have to be filed with your own insurance provider.

Always ask for their liability insurance provider, and if they don't have it, make sure that the law enforcement officer taking the report (assuming you report the accident) knows that they are uninsured.

Thanks for this eye-opener. DriveTime is ideal for drivers

  • Aging between 18 years and 25 years

  • Need comprehensive coverage all the time

  • Ideally drive between the hours of heavy traffic

DriveTime policies are targeted to consumers with not-so-good credit. DT is an auto dealership and not an insurance company. It deals with used cars.

DriveTime offers loans to people with poor credit to help them in availing motor vehicles. And, hence, requires the buyers to obtain comprehensive coverage from them.

However, the car owner is required to purchase liability and other necessary coverage separately for their protection. Purplept, is right, a driver with DT coverage only should be considered as an uninsured driver, if he doesn't carry additional liability policy.

Take care!!
