Can't blame the judge there. I wonder to myself all the time if I would have truly needed an atty. Since I came here to this site I am leaning more towards the fact that I may not have. It was just pretty scary after I found out that my injuries would not improve over time but only get worse. When the doc said I was facing permanant disablity with in a few years that was the sealer of the deal. In all honesty do you believe people with my type of injury needs a lawyer or could they do just as well on their own? How can one be assured that they won't get an adjuster looking to take advantage of them being an unknowledgable person in the insurance field? I have been wondering about this.

In your case it's too late, but my thing is, as long as you haven't signed a release you can always get an atty at any time...So IMO a person with reasonable intelligence, and the ability to research alittle can handle their own BI's (of this size)...and then if it appears you have an adjuster that is trying to take advantage THEN get an atty...I just don't understand people that run out the day of the accident willing to give up a third of THEIR money!

I thought about it for about two months before getting one. I was pretty frightened at the magnatude of my injuries. You also see all those commercials telling you if you do one wrong thing. I pretty much learned my lesson on this one. Hopefully I will never have to go through this again but if I do I will be going it alone.

So if you had it to do all over again would you have gotten an attorney fireyone? or would you handle it on your own?

I think I would have just did it myself. I already have alot of my own time invested in it by going and collecting forms and calling places to get the copies sent to the atty. The only thing that I am unsure about is whether the adjuster would have given me a fair shake. I was really new to all this and didn't even know where to start. They don't give out handbooks on these things when your in an accident. You pretty much just have to guess what is best for you.
