I've been through some car accidents but those were not my fault. I don't understand why I'm being considered as a "high risk driver" of late. Is there a way out! _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

The insurance company considers you as "high-risk driver" as you pose a high financial risk to the auto insurance company and is likely to cost them money. It does not matter whether or not you are at-fault. You are a risky driver. It is expensive to insure you as the chance of insurance provider having to pay for the damages is much higher. So to cover themselves financially, they charge a higher premium from a "high-risk driver".

Most of the times, the insurance company demands a higher premium, not necessarily deny coverage. You can simply shop around to find an affordable auto insurance coverage for high-risk drivers or contact some providers who are specialized in this field.

Of course. All you need to do is prove yourself to the insurance company as a safe and responsible driver. There are ways to do this. The most common among them is to take a course in defensive and safe driving. You can also get a car with good safety reputation and add all safety devices like automatic seat belts, anti-lock breaks and airbags to reduce the risk you pose. |

The insurance carriers would identify you as their high risk driver based on certain factors-
* If your past coverage hasn't been sufficient as mandated by the state guidelines
* If you've had too many accidents in the past even though you were not at-fault
* If you've had a few instances of reckless or drunk driving
Apart from this, your poor credit score also plays a key role in determining your chances. |

| Once you're being identified as a high-risk driver, your carrier may deny a coverage renewal or may even cancel your policy. They might take such steps within a period of 3 years beyond which your driving record gets under a scanner. If your driving behavior doesn't improve, then you might need to go for any auto insurance that falls within the high risk category. |

If you've achieved a high risk rate it won't be easy for you to get it reduced. What you could do now is to maintain a safe driving record wherein you won't get involved in accidents any more. Also, make sure that you pay your bills regularly in order to get your credit ratings improved. |

If you can't manage any of the general auto insurance coverage policies, you might start looking for online auto insurance that falls in the high risk category. Insurance rates for the high risk auto insurance policies are usually high. So more you'd surf and compare rates, you'd come nearer to the lowest possible rates that the carriers offer in this category. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

Once your driving record improves you'll be eligible for lowered insurance quotes.
Also try and achieve a good credit. This might just help! _________________ Insuranceguy.ampminsure.org |
