I bumped in a park car in my local super market. I suffer most damage. The other car only had a very small scratch. I waited for the lady to come out and we exchange phone number. Told her that I rather not involve my insurance, but she insisted on having it looked at as she was scared of rust. She called me back saying that the estimate by her garage was 500. I think this is way to much and I want my garage to have a look at it. but she wont let this happen. Anybody could help with some advices on how to proceed?

You do not have that right! It's up to her where she repairs it and if she repairs its. You owe for the damage you caused..period.... Let me tell ya' $500 is NOTHING for even a small repair. I write estimates pretty much all day long....in the midwest...last time I wrote a 500 estimate? I can't remember honestly..probably a (cheap) mirror only damage estimate...

Keep pushing her and this will go to your carrier, and maybe more.

If you want to pay it get a copy of the estimate, Type something up that this is full and final settlement of all claims known or unknown resulting from the accident on blah, blah date and time between blah blah people..have her sign it, give her 500 bucks and chalk one up to experience. Oh, make sure she's the owner of the vehicle, cause they could come back on you..Also anyone in the car with her? They could pop up injured a year or so down the road. ...... OR turn it in to your carrier and let them do what you pay them to do. Their estimate make be higher or lower, doesn't matter..they will be paid what they have coming, will your rates increase? Probably...

never trust anyone- always get a polce officer there and a police report and any witnesses names and phone numbers and take several good photos at the scene- Chances are this guy has an apointment with his attorney, dcotor and chiropracter already lined up and he probably has an estimate for $2,500.00 from a body shop- which means depending on your state your rates could go up and you could end up with a surchagrge for up to six years; that being said, he may just be a nice guy you never hear from again...

take a good clear photo of her damage and ask a local shop- preferably one yo know and trust- if that estimate is over priced and if they can write their own estimate for the repair- If nay new parts were used find out if used parts were available to write that estimate- you can look it up yourself on car-part.com if you know the year, make and model and the part- say the front bumper- if they agree it is then present that estimate to your insurance adjuster and tell them the other shop wrote the estimate too high. If they agree ask them if they can find a third party to settle the claim.
