| He has a valid drivers license and has been riding for years but does not have a MC license. Will my insurance cover him if he is in an accident and it is his fault? |

Hi houseworth,
Your boyfriend's negligence won't be attributed to you naturally as per the laws in most states. But since in this case you know that he is not qualified to ride a bike, you might be considered negligent in case you'd allow him to ride your bike. So, now its your turn to take the right decision!

If you give him the permission to operate the bike your insurer might cover the incidents. But you might not let the bike to an unqualified driver as it can lead to far stretched consequences. You may go though the policy document to know more about the circumstances under which you can end-up with a denied claim. Well, the coverage may still apply since valid driving license is not always an insurance requirement. You might still receive coverage 'cause I've seen this to happen in the past where the insurer paid even for drivers with no license. But, you must insist your boyfriend to get valid license if he needs to ride the bike often & also get his coverage. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

| Having your boyfriend just go ahead and get his license would be the best thing this way of he wrecks it you will be assured of the coverage. Sometimes an insurance company may turn down a claim or deny future coverage if they find any fault on your part like knowingly letting someone with out a vaod license drive. It really does not amount to much time, energy or money to go and get the motorcycle license so why even take the chance? |

Think twice before taking any decision. It's hard to tell if your insurance will cover if your boy friend suffers an accident. Every insurance company has their own policies. But you know that he is not qualified to ride a bike why you are taking a chance? _________________ ampminsure rocks !! |

| My thoughts exactly and to get a license is not much. Thinking of the difference in rate hikes and consequences verses just getting hte motorcycle license makes a person think it is best to just get the license. |

You should check out Hurt Report statistics; basically he's the perfect candidate to be killed on a bike: unlicensed, learned from family / friends, etc. It's not worth it! What if he dies? _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

OP, just let him use your bike to get licensed...and think long and hard even then .... you do understand that if he causing an accident it is YOUR insurance that will pay and YOU that will pay the the premium increase that will most certainly result.. _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake.
