hi all,,

Well crilley is refering for coverage for passengers travelling in a car which is being driven by a person who does not have a driver's license........ For their own security.....

I am completely with Kelvin... I too personally would avoid to travel in such a situation...

Hi
GNP

I agree with him as well.. its better to avoid to travel with someone without a DL
however the quest still remains unans
Is there any insu avail for passangers

I know a few people who DO drive, but, they don't have a DL...I don't know how they got their Insurance ( I should ask sometime). ONE of these people works...however, he has an attitude like 'if I get pulled over, and they ( police ) fine me for not having a DL, they better drive me to work and back' kind of thing. It's really sad to see people that think the entire world owes them..ya know?

Well, It's dependant on whether you are eligible to drive without the State specific license. If you have a IDP (International Permit) or a foreign license valid within the period, then it will help. Also, if you have a permit, and awaiting valid license, then it should be okay. However, the insurance being a contract between the Insured and the Insurer, the latter will not write a contract unless they have reasons to trust the insured. In the cases specified above, the insurance premiums will be higher than it would have been if there was a valid license. Also note that many of the big Insurance co do not write a policy even for a new driver with valid drivers license of less than 3 years. Hope this helps

Yes...this does help ME understand a bit more. Thank you. I DO understand why some may be at 'high risk' to get Insurance policies ( 'new' drivers, drivers with alot of 'points' on their DL, etc.).

Well, the answer is straightforward. Insurance is a contract, and no reasons to guess that unless one has a good driving history, the carrier is at a risk when it writes a policy. They look for the driving history, the responsibilities, the background and so many things. A good driving history of 3 yrs or more, a married person (assuming has more responsibilities and would like to drive safely), a professional, and some other factors add to the driving score which inturn has the effect of mitigating risk. Hope this helps.

I recently bought an auto & put my name on the title with a friend, there is no lein on the car. Now the friend has a suspended license & no car insurance on the car but refuses to give the car back to me so I can turn the license plate in until she can get her driver license back & car insurance on the car. I don't drive this car but made the mistake of getting the car in my name also. In Kentucky we cannot get a name off the title until both parties agree & then she would have to have car insurance or turn in the license plate for me to put it in her name and she refuses to do this and is still driving the car. I don't have insurance on the car either since she is driving it, I have my own car with insurance on it. What do I need to do to get her to stop driving this car? I have the title in my possession, but not the car. thank you
