Hello,
I just got my permit. My question is can I drive my husband car without add my name to the car insurance? In other word, does the insurance company will cover any accident while I'm driving and my husband in the car?
Please note that my name is on the auto insurance but as non driver.

Thanks

I would believe that you should inform your insurance company. Their are experts here that can answer the question and will drop in on the post. If you have to report it I would do it as soon as possible just in case their was an accident. They may then deny and/or drop the coverage.

Well..........with a permit ( I believe) you can ONLY drive with a licensed driver. Also...you DO need to be covered under some kind of auto insurance. Since you ONLY have a permit, however, I don't know whether you can get your 'own' policy somewhere, or not. Make sense?

States require the drivers with learner's permit to have their names added to the existing auto insurance policy of the household. You can read more about it in the following url

Not all insurance company would issue a policy to a driver with learner's permit. You may have to wait till you get the permanent driving license to get insurance.

However, since with learner's permit you can only drive with the licensed driver, his coverage would suffice if you get into an accident. But it'd be wise to inform the insurance company about receiving the permit, some companies wouldn't charge high till you get the driving license.

Yep..I can of figured. Now..here's my question on the 'permit thing'. I'm divorced. I have 'Primary' custody of my son. If my son is driving his dad's car, and ( God Forbid) gets into an accident, will his dad's Insurance cover it, or would it go on MY Insurance, since I am 'Primary' parent? I hope this question is clear.
