|
|
| I have possesion of a car that is in my husbands name. He has until recently kept insurance up to date. But has canceled the policy. I live in Kentucky with the car, he lives in Florida. The car is registered in Florida. Can I still get insurance? I was told by a policeman that since we are still married the car is considered marital property and I should be able to. |

Gosh, Ky, what a mess...You can likely get insurance, however of course your husband would be listed as the owner..contact an agent and get some quotes..you need to get coverage on this vehicle NOW if you are driving it...any chance in husband just signing over the title to you? _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake. I was wondering the same, otherwise she might face issues since she is not the owner of the vehicle.
By the way, welcome back Lori How are you doing? |

I think she won't be able to purchase full coverage on the car if she doesn't have the title. Without the title she may need to purchase the non-owners policy, which would cover the liability issue along with the medical expenses and uninsured/underinsured coverage. She won't be able to recover compensation for the damages to the vehicle.
Ky, if you are in possession of the vehicle and the husband is not going to use it in future, you may get the title transferred for your benefit. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

i hope i have given reply for this. but once again!!! husband can sign the papers through digital signatory if he is not able to come over there to sign the papers physically. In the current age of technology it is really possible. |

| If they are married why is his signature required? Because of him being the owner? Here is a question...if a vehicle is purchased during marriage anbd the marriage breaks up later whos car is it legally..what if it were a gift to the one spouse but purchased by the other? |
