No-Fault Accident

Hello everyone,

I was parked along side a street and someone was trying to parallel park and he hit the front of my car and caused about 2500 dollars in damages. Since I am not at fault, will my insurance rates increase? I am a 17 year old driver with no tickets or accidents on my record. My car was in park so it definitely wasn't my fault at all. The party at fault will be going to their insurance company to file a claim and they require me to give them my insurance information. Do you think anything will be reported to my insurance company? I have 21st Century and he has State Farm.

Thank you very much for your time and input.

GOOD!! Hope all of this 'works out'. Don't let the insurance company give you LESS than what you think the damage is worth.

Hi Lori!

Was this on a public road, or parking lot, private property? where? That makes a difference about reports, and no I don't think it's necessary right now to file one..

I'm a little bit confused.. though it makes sense that there is no need to file a report under such circumstances..but exactly what difference does the stage of the accident make over here? I mean...if its on a public road than a pvt. property would the necessity to file a report lessen?
Thanx, Purpleheaded08

Yes purple it would, in most juristictions if there are no injuries the cops won't even come to an accident on private property (such as store parking lots)...

REALLY??? I thought WHEREVER someone has an accident, I thought the people, who are involved in the accident, has to call the police..and the police are OBLIGATED to show up at the scene. Am I wrong??

Yes, you are wrong...all jurisdictions have their own rules governing these things...in my city (about 80k or so) private property wreck, no cops will come unless someone is hurt...same with all the neighboring areas including KC, which is huge...

OIC!! NOPE..never heard that before. Private Property vs. Public. I bet you can some 'sticky' situations, having an accident on Private Property. What happend, who did what, etc. ....and no police to arrest anyone!!
