What is a 15 yo salvage title worth?

I bumped a vahicle at the school. I wanted to take care of it, but they filed a claim with my insurance. They are going to "total" her vehicle again. I know the title is salvaged because it has 24 vin# hit on Nada. It has extensive front end damage. (No grill, hood does not close.) It 15 yrs old. What kind of pay out are they looking at? I am sure they will keep the vehicle.

I still can not see why the are so unwilling to look into something like this when it would be costing the company extra money..

At times the insurer may try to avoid the extra trouble of investigating into the matter when they can fairly easily close the case by paying some money to the claimant. I'm sure that whatever they would pay to the other driver will be more than the worth of the 15 year old salvaged car. Hence, its profiting the owner. Therefore, she would readily settle with the insurance company. Who knows?

IMO this would NOT be the carriers way of handling it rather a lazy adjuster that wants a claim closed. Not that it may not very well come out the same way...but the nerve of not even inspecting it when there is a dispute about the amount of damage :x

That is my biggest complaint, they did not inspect my damages. MY GOSH, they are an insurance company. They are not supposed to want to settle so fast. What upsets me the most was that I was disputing the claim and they were paying her without seeing my car. When they FINALLY came bacause I complained about it, the adjuster said "Where is the Damage?" I said exactly. Then he went on to tell my adjuster that I could have made the damages. TOTAL CRAP!! I just do not understand how. It is physically impossible for my back right and her front right to touch. IMPOSSIBLE!!....OK, I failed to mention this earlier, and it may change everything to the insurance experts here, but when I backed up and bumped her car, (Remember I went from a complete stop to barely letting my foot off the brake)I checked for damges and saw none. No scratches or bumps on mine. And her car was already tore up. I DID NOT tell her. I went into the school and just figured I did not have to since there was no damage. THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IN MY WHOLE LIFE!!! Her friend the crossing gaurd told her and before I even got home she made an accident report. When she confronted my the next day, I apologized said I did not see damage, but I could pay her money for it. I told her there was no need to go through the insurance company if I could pay her. She said she would talk to her husband. I NEVER heard about it again. She never told me she made an accident report because I would have gone straight to the police department so the officer could take my info. Nope, she never told me nothing. Never spoke to me again. Her smugg a** knew what she was doing. And that it would benefit her if the police never saw my car. Next time I am calling the cops NO MATTER WHAT!! So, I have to go to court for a hit and run. When I never ran, I just did not tell her about it. $600 in fines and she gets a pay out.**** The saying is true, no good deed goes unpunished. My vehicle was bumped while I was standing outside of it and my son was laying on the seat while I was changing his diaper. No damage. No problem. My oldest son was hit by a car while riding his bike when he was 8yrs old. No injuries. Took him to the doctor, he was fine. I NEVER filed a claim with their insurance. We did not deserve anything, we were fine both times!! And now when the tables are turned, I get screwed! I am so embarressed! I am stressed!! I have no money! We are a single income family! I am a homemaker. Now, I have to figure out how to pay these fines if the judge does not dismiss them.****** Either way, the insurance company handled me and this claim poorly!! I am their customer!! They should at least Pretend to care about my opinion! Either way, I get screwed. But I have learned my lesson!!!!!!

Yes, you did get screwed, but you helped... I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound, but (and you know this as you've said so)...not IMMEDIATELY looking her up inside the school just killed you...things would've turned out a whole lot different if you had...I understand totally your reasoning. Unfortunately you have learned a very expensive lesson...

When you go to court be sure and tell the judge you didn't leave you were there for ''x'' amount of time...you truly thought there was no damage, take pictures of your vehicle and hers if you still can...

I'm really sorry about this for you...and of all the cars in the lot that you could've bumped into it had to be this one...the 'appearance' of a 'hit and run' (you don't have to run, just not report the accident even a note on her windshield would've probably done it for you)....thru you into a totally different category...and it makes a little more sense to me now...(your carrier wanting to pay and go on this...not that they should'nt have been more diligent they should have)...

Be sure and let us know the outcome or any other assistance we can give you..

Well, I have found out what they are paying her. $1965. Nada gives a "clean" vehicle $2000. Her vehicle is not worth that much! No Way, No How! I am FLOORED!! I am so disappointed in AIG/21st century insurance. I swear this woman knows the people handling the claim! That has to be the only reason they are paying her out that much. Her vehicle has previous damage. Mine has none. Seriously, I do not understand why they are willing to pay her so much! It is just crazy! And I have to see this woman with her smug face thinking HAHA, I got PAID!!! Did they not check her vehicle history? What are my options? I am already switching insurance companies. But I seriously feel I have been wronged. I had to insist they see my vehicle. And yet with no damage to my vehicle they stated is was possible I did this damage. (I wish I could show you all the pics from both vehicles. Can I post them here?) I didn't even give my statement to my adjuster. She says I gave it to the Customer Service people. This company is wrong on all kinds of levels. This is so UNFAIR!! I WILL NEVER MAKE A MISTAKE LIKE THIS AGAIN!!!!

I seriously doubt that..

They certainly should have!

What are my options?

Did you ever contact your states Dept of Ins? File a complaint that the claim was not investigated properly?

But I seriously feel I have been wronged.

I agree sounds like you have been...

(I wish I could show you all the pics from both vehicles. Can I post them here?)

sure...

It does suck, and it is unfair, because now your rates are going to be higher.....I'd get a hold of the consumer advocate with your states DOI, and see if there is anything at all they can do...

I wrote an email to the executive office of 21st Century insurance. I was just could not talk to anyone else anymore, I just get too mad! I had left messages for the Supervisor and Manager and no one called me back. FINALLY, the email got their attention. I spoke to the main person over the office where my adjuster was at. And today I got a call from the Assistant VP over the Western division. He believes my claim was not handled properly. This woman was in an accident Aug. 2008 (4 months before) She rear ended another car. And he concluded it is impossible for my vehicle could jump her bumper and damage her grill. And that he is referring my claim to the Investigation Department. I am so glad. It is totally the principle behind it all!! I still have to go to trial in two weeks, but it helps my case that she lied to the insurance company. So, I know all those people involved that would not listen to me, would not call me back, and thought I would just forget about it, Now will have my email in their personell file. And I have no idea what will happen with this lady, but I am sure they will be investigating whether she filed a false claim or not!! Hopefully, court will go just as well. I need it to because I got another insurance quote and it was $1900 for 6 months! What in the World?!?!
Thanks for your help!!

After recieving the accident report from the accident this woman had in Aug. One person in the car she hit had to be taken to the hospital. And her vehicle was towed away. It is very apparent that this woman has filed a false claim. This has caused me so much aggrevation, bickering with my husband, not to mention the embarressment. What can I do to make sure it is brought to the authorities attention that she filed a false claim? Do I need to talk to the prosecutor tomorrow? I want her to learn that you can not file a false claim!!
