I'm trying to find out if there is a law on how many business days an insurer can take to get a claim adjuster to appraise the damage to your vehicle. My claim is now five business days old and Geico is advising that the earliest they can get to my vehicle at the dealer would be Thursday, of next week!!! That would be 8-9 business days. Totally unacceptable. Anyone have any info on that? I would sure like to push them as much as possible.

Adjustor called me to advise that he received a call from the dealer with regard to another damaged part which he will add to the estimate and as far as the OEM parts, they are working things out between them and for me not to worry. Parts are being ordered today so work can begin.

In that it's a "BMW" dealer, I'm not surprised. I'm betting that they pay big money to be a "certified BMW" repair shop.

I doubt very much that the wheel is after market. More then likely it's simply a salvage part or it might be a reconditioned wheel.

If it's and LKQ part (salvage) then it's just like was on your vehicle. The shop probably does not want to use it as they need to maintain their customer status with BMW and order as many parts from them as possible (the bigger the customer, the more weight the dealership has with BMW).

The original estimate for OEM rim is $179 so probably the AM rim is around $400 and perhaps the dealer overestimated the additional cost.

I think you have this backwards... the AM (or salvage) part is going to be less then the OEM.

Yes, the estimate says aftermarket. And you certainly make some really good points which I never thought of and i'm sure your right.

The dealer just called and said they are working it out with the adjustor and will use new parts as they are bound to do so by law, and that they will make it up in other ways. However they do it is up to them but personally I prefer new parts as opposed to used/salvaged. I pay for collision coverage and feel main replacement parts should be new.
Further I am having the repairs done through a certified (yes) BMW dealer so as to not have a problem down the road where they blame a non authorized shop for previous repairs.

In any event I continue to be disappointed with Geico as to their delay, lack of communication, and misleading information.

Now I are up to parts being ordered, should be delivered by Thursday, car should be ready no later than middle of next week, fully 2.5 weeks since I ran off the road. All this time and aggravation for what pretty much amounts to minor repairs.
