Is it policy for your own insurance company SF to have you sue them to file an UIM/UI Claim?

Not to file a claim... this simply requires a call. To have them pay a UIM claim, perhaps.
In the case of a UIM claim the insurance company behaves just as the other parties carrier would. Your carrier may think your claim is not valid and/or that your BI settlement was enough payment.
