Tired of not getting answers about my claim

I have been dealing with an insurance claim for the past 4 months with allstate. I car was stolen, I in turn notify allstate like I was suppose to then my car was found like three weeks later. They started their investigation then requested I do an examination under oath which I did(a month ago) and was told they would be in touch with me. So last week I called the claims adjuster and he told me that he would be getting back to me once he knows more, since then I have called several times AND left messages yet still no response from him. What other options do I have in this situation? Also I forgot to tell you I asked about my car where abouts more than once and the claims adjuster just keeps telling me that it is in a secure allstate facility. I have given them everything assoiciated with my car... My car keys the proof of loss form etc.. What more can I do

What I can say is that the things you mentioned are usually only done when the insurance company _suspects_ fraud. Perhaps the ignition did not look like it was defeated. In which case they may have an expert examining the ignition, etc.

If the above is correct, it can take some time. Should it take 3 months? No. Most states require, under their Fair Claims Practice Act, that the claimant be notified if the claim cannot be settled within 30 days. Most require an update every 30 days. Has this been done?

None the less, your adjuster should be responding to your inquiries. I'm betting if they suspect fraud that the adjuster cannot say much, but they should be at least responding.

My recommendation would be to call a supervisor. If that person does not respond, call that person's supervisor. You can also file a complaint with your state's Dept of Insurance so that they can determine the status of the claim.

Thank you very much, the adjuster did ask me alot of questions about the car and when and where I purchased which I answered but yeah it has been a while my car was recovered on Aug 22 and was stolen on July 23 so its been some time.

Two months is pretty long. I've seen it take this long in some cases though... depends on the situation. I'm betting you should be able to light a fire under their butts by calling a supervisor and letting them know that you need someone to expedite your claim and/or give you _some_ type of time frame on settlement. You may even want to ask them if the state Fair Claims Practice Act requires them to notify you in writing every 30 days as to the status. If so, they hate keeping up with those letters. That is, it would be easier for them to light a fire under someones butt rather then keep mailing out those letters each month.

I'd also recommend that you file a complaint with your state's Dept of Ins. Do that now.

Quite so! Often the claim involving a stolen car may take more time towards settlement than a collision claim. However, you mustn't worry, if you're sure that you have been honest and have cooperated with the insurance company in all the aspects, you may get the claim settled very soon.

The insurance company has to give the reason for denying the claim in writing. Talk to the superior authority of the claim department and demand the status of your claim. You may also let them know that you intend to file a complaint with the state department if the explanation hasn't been satisfactory.

An EUO doesn't happen unless there is fraud suspected...I'm with T on this more than likely the SIU dept is handling this claim, and they are either in the middle of drafting a denial, or getting all their facts in order to make a decision (pay or deny)...but as Tcope said, call and ask to speak with a supervisior DEMAND that they tell you what is going on with your claim....Please do let us know and if we can be of further assistance to you.

I was reading this one..how does a person get around to work and such if there car is being retained? Do they pay for a rental or does that person just have to deal with it? You imagine if it was their only vehicle and theywere waiting so long they would at least be entitled to another vehicle. I just can't see an insurance company paying for a rental this long.

So I called the adjuster again and left another message. Today he returned the call and stated that he was no longer handling the claim because his part was completed and that the information was being sent back over to the first adjuster I was speaking to and she would be handling the case from here on out. But I am still clueless, what does this mean now?

I've had insurance with Allstate in the past. I didn't like their service and they never keep their word about things. Too expensive and not very good service.

Fire..most policys (even if you don't have rental) will have a 30 day rental on total thefts...they could extend it, but I doubt it...

OP, this could mean only that the orginal adjuster is going to be the one to either finish this up finally and pay you or send out the denial...call back and ask to speak to THAT adjuster, if you don't get them or get their voice mail hit 'zero' and ask to speak to their supervisor...this is ridiculous and should've been settled months ago! Either paid or denied...

Thank you Lori, yes I am sooo tired, and I don't know what to do either way. Like there is alot of damage to my car if they deny then I am stuck trying to get my car fixed out of pocket which i'm sure is going to be a headache and how would I get my keys and car back you know. I just feel loss because this has been dragging out. Two I never told my bank about the car being stolen because I didn't know if I was suppose to since I still pay car note. What should I be doing until I talk to the first adjuster?
