Help me decide on a claim

I'm a multiple line (auto & home) Allstate customer with no auto claims or reported tickets for over 10 years. My rate for the auto policy just went up by about $215/year.

About 10-12 days ago, I stopped by a store on the way home from work and when I came back from inside the store, I noticed that the driver's side rear bumper & fender was all messed up.

I've had 3 body shops look at it, and the estimates are between $1,200 and $1,800.

I made an anonymous (i.e. I didn't give them my name or policy #) call to Allstate's claims dept, and they said that if I decided to make a claim, it would go on the hit & run portion of my policy ($250 deductible).

Any thoughts on the likelihood of a further rate increase if I make this claim?

How involved is the adjuster in the claims process - does he babysit the repair work & everything, or is he done once I get the check?

Any other thoughts?

djvaughn1, I personally have great coverage...others I'm sure don't please post these in the advertising area though rather than in discussion threads where they make absolutely no sense to the topic of the thread....you're hawking your business and that's fine, just put it where it belongs...start a thread in the adverstising forum...that's where it belongs...

simpleyou just can't teach some people

I'll agree with that statement 110%...especially as it pertains to forum, terms and use conditions as well at forum/internet etiquette !

Life...love your bunny.
It is a double wide and it did have a title. We got a loan from the bank and put it on a foundation , moved all the electrical stuff down to the basement and once we consolidated the bank loan (construction) and what we owed on the home they deeded it. The mobile home company sent us the title, which the bank says really has no purpose now. We tried to get our insurance company to change it over to a regular house insurance policy and they said "no can do" Not even if we add additions , weld it, screw it to the earth...once a mobile home...always a mobile home..

Wow. As long as it is on a slab or platform, skited all the way around (if platform), and it has a deed, we call it a house. Might be a manufactured home, but at least not a mobile home.

I think this must be a state or company issue there are several ''former'' mobile homes that now have HO policys in these parts.

Well if I hadn't already taken the time and zillion dollar loan out I would move. I am in PA and checked with quite a few places and I am getting this same feed back. Really disappointing. If I had another zillion dollars, I wonder if I could put a ceiling in the basement covering the metal framework and pass it off...but then I would be afraid of getting in trouble.
