Christmas’ over and we’re back to our schedules. However, this post comes as a result of the stories of accidents that I heard from workmates. I found 6 steps to avoid someone making a false claim on you. There are rogues, frauds, cheats, scam artists all out to make easy money. Be careful. Follow the 6 easy steps to fight auto insurance fraud
  • Tip 1: Avoid being tempted into committing insurance fraud. Do not treat an accident or burglary as an opportunity to make more money. If caught you could be arrested, fined or imprisoned.
  • Tip 2: Report a fraud if you get to know about one.
  • Tip 3: Individuals who are trying to create a false claim often try to hook in innocent drivers into collision. So, drive carefully.
  • Tip 4: If you do have a collision, note the names, license number of the drivers involved. Call the police immediately.
  • Tip 5: If possible keep a disposable camera with you. When involved in an auto accident, you must take pictures (if you are in a position to) of the scene where the accident happened, damage to any vehicle; all the individuals involved and if there was property damage.
  • Tip 6: Keep information about your insurance private. When you do have to give your policy number be careful as to whom you are giving it to. It is something that you need to guard and not reveal to others.
While the above tips are quite useful, they may not cover every situation. So the watchword would be ‘careful’. By being careful you can avoid an accident and if you can avoid an accident you do not need to get involved in a fraud claim case.
