When should I add my child to my health plan?

He is just 6. Is it the best time to add him? My wife says it's too early. Any response would be appreciated.

Though rules of each health insurance carrier are different, technically you need to add your newborn to your health insurance policy within a month of the birth. The same time frame is operational even for a legal adoption.

Failing to add the newborn within the given time may delay the coverage.

Why would you not cover your child at any age? This makes no sense. Age 6 . . . age 60 . . . how young is too young to have health insurance?

And MangoQurious . . . why can't you post replies that are on point? This is not about newborn children.
