Well Tony there is really nothing you can do other than apply for any aid that is possible, ie food stamps, housing, ulitilty assistance. It is common for bodily injury claims to be paid in full at settlement. Some attorneys will 'front' some money, for these things but not required too. I'm sorry. How close are you to settling the claim?

You could take the time to learn better grammer and typing (sorry but when someone else is requesting the assistance of others they should at least make their posts readable).

You could simply ask your attorney to settle your claim at this time. When you settle its based on the current medical expenses and what is known right at that time. So if things turn for the worse later on, that won't be considered. My guess is that your attorney is waiting to see if anything else turns up in your families medical treatment/condition. Right now your attorney is not spending any time on your case... he/she is simplying allowing the bills to accumulate so that the settlement is greater and he/she makes more money (it's the same amount of work done is the settlement is $1000 or $100,000 but when being paid 33% of the settlement value is considered, their is more money in the latter settlement.

Not to put down attorneys but... do people really think injury attorneys are there to protect the injured person? Perhaps as a by-product but client #1 is the money. That is, your attorney probably has little interest in your finacial well being.

I'm _not_ recommending it but there are companies who wil give you a loan against yout possible settlement. Be prepared to get raped on cost of that loan.

I'd recommend leaning on your attorney to settle the matter. He/she is actually there to do what _you_ want. If he/she does not like taking less money now... too bad! If they want to stick it out for more money let them make a low interest loan to you.

tcope i thank you, my mother thanks you and my father thanks you......that was driving me crazy too! And almost feel it was 'staged'.....

Well put Tcope! Many people are led to belive that the attorney is your best buddy, if that's the case, and he's sooooooo sure that you have a 100k settlement forth coming, I don't know why he wouldn't 'front' you 10k or so to keep you and your family in the 'black'. You might want to remember his motive, to make money, and there's nothing wrong with that as long as you understand it!.......also why would you be coming to this board if you are attorney rep'd? hmmmmmmmmmmm? Did he not answer this question? I'm glad you came, but I can gaurantee he specifically told you NOT to discuss this with ANYONE! For good reason.......Go to your attorney who is going to collect a min. off 33k from this settlement and ask for a 'draw' on this settlement!

I see this reaction on every forum I participate in. Someone who may be uneducated. a foreigner, illiterate, disabled, impeded in any manner, and they are often verbally attacked by the people that are supposed to be compassionate, helpful, and caring.

I was able to interpret the question and overlook the poor grammer or is it grammar? And I got the gist of the request for information. Unless this person is able to overlook the sarcasm and demeaning of his impairment, I doubt that he will even come back to this forum and for fear of ridicule will stop others from asking questions they consider dumb for fear of being made an example of.

Wouldn't it had been easier to just reply and gently asked, hey if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask as we are ready to help. And one might have suggested that if you have difficulty communicating or expressing your idea, here is a helpful suggestion that will help us to better help and understand your need. Open your word processor and type your message, have it spell checked and formatted. You can then copy and paste it into this box. If not, then we'll work with you and try to help you as best we can.

I have limitations as well, I can write often times without a central theme or thought because my mind runs off in tangents and I tend to write a lot of run on sentences. But I don't plan on being an author or writer of articles for magazines, I just try to get my point across or helpful suggestion as best I can.

On the matter of the attorney, I once made loans over three years in amounts to over 30,000 to a tenant who lost her leg due to negligence at the hospital my wife worked at as a nurse. Conflict? I don't know. The loans were attached or the attorney placed a lein on the settlement to secure the loan. She was told that this was the only way it could be done. The attorney told her even though she collected 2.5 million dollars, that he could not loan her money due to the possible impropriety. Maybe it was true, maybe he was a cold hearted creep. Attorneys aren't banks, they put out thousands in expenses many times on a gamble that they may collect nothing.

Tcope, I have a question for you. WERE YOU THE GUY IN THE BACK OF THE CLASS SAYING TEACHER, YOU FORGOT TO GIVE US HOMEWORK?

No, when I was in class I was the guy trying to get my homework done or copy it right before class started. I think I turned 30 before I started taking an interest in leaning the ways of the world (I have a lot of catching up to do).

With that said, I did also answer the question in detail. There is little point in chiming in unless you have some input on the subject.

I don't make mention of grammar very often and I think that was probably a bad day. But I try to offer good information to most people that post here. I must say that people who type in all caps really get to me. IT MEANS YOU AR YELLING... and it's rude when the entire post is that way. Is this different in other countries? Also, I premise the comment with "sorry". As I mentioned, I certainly don't make it a habit so perhaps I was entitled.

Haha, I never liked those types in school! They make sense now that I am in the real world!

That post is hard to read, but it sounds like you may want to make your way over to the Debt Forum as they can better help you. I hope you get your part of the $100,000.
