I'm not even sure if this is the correct category, but here it goes.....

Let's say, that you 'might' have cancer...you haven't actually been diagnosed, but you have an appointment for a test that may say you do, (or don't)....

Could you BEFORE the test is preformed. Run out and buy a cancer or disability policy, and be able to legally and ethically obtain one, since you could honestly answer, 'no' to any questions like, do you now have cancer, or have you been diagnosed with cancer? same with disability policys...(I don't know how the app questions read I am assuming they say something like this)...further assume, that even if you don't have the big 'c' you will maintain these policys...in other words if you are clear you're not going to cancel them...understand.? just that it never really occured to you until you got in this position...

So what do you think?

Now Lori!
Are we trying to "put one over" on the ole' insurance company?

I think the question might be changed from "Could You?" to "Would You?".

Let's say you have a detached garage, you go out to get in your car to go to work only to find that a heavy piece of equipment, which was previously mounted on the wall, had fallen right in the middle of your windshield. When you bought your auto insurance, you purchased "liability" only.
Would you call your agent and add "Comp" to your auto policy, leave your car in the garage, and next week file a "Comp" claim?
(Lori, I know how you operate, this is just an example, so don't get into homeowners, OK?)

Most health type policies have "Exclusions" and "Pre-Existing Conditions", as you probably aready know.
Here is a generic "Pre-Existing Condition" Clause:

"A pre-existing condition is a sickness or injury which was diagnosed or treated, or which produced signs or symptoms that would cause an ordinarily prudent person to seek treatment, during the five-year period before the covered person's effective date of coverage."

Of course, this pre-existing "period" will vary from company to company.

I guess you will have to decide, are you a "prudent" person?

  Well, I guess maybe, kind of.... That was my question, would it be IF you were not YET diagnosed? I don't know how these cancer and private disability policys work, or their apps...If a person were upfront, meaning said to the agent, exactly the circumstances...

(Lori, I know how you operate, this is just an example, so don't get into homeowners, OK?)

:D ha ha, wouldn't be covered anyway..na-na-na-na- :P (damage to a land motor vehicle)....(i think i remember that right! )

or which produced signs or symptoms that would cause an ordinarily prudent person to seek treatment,

ahhhhh, but 'treatment' and 'diagnosis' are different are they not?

On the comp coverage scenrio though, when you add that coverage (app) are there not questions about prior damage? See, that would be an out and out lie...

Just another, 'what if'....I think though on these types of policys (cancer in particular) are there not 'waiting ' periods, like thirty days or so? That may kick it out? clearly you know I don't know much at all about these lines...just wondering....also may have something to do with the actual wording of the questions? I'm sure I'm not the first to wonder about this, or sure it has been 'done' just wondering the out come......

(for the record I would never lie on an app ever!-think ya' know that though)
