I'm doing research to file a claim and was wondering if there was a way I could find out what type of insurance a business have as well as their insurance carrier's name?

I think if there is something it must be a bond...many times people misunderstand and call bonds insurance, (there's a thread here about that somewhere)...however, I don't know how you would go about finding it! And a bond wouldn't do any good anyway until all other angles were tapped a bond is kind of 'last hope' type thing...

How much money are we talking about here? I ask because if it's within your states small claims amount, that would be a 'cheap' way of collection...Or what about that hiring a collection agency? You could talk with both an attorney and collection agency and see what each charged...Or honestly if it's a 'no brainer' case, in other words no way this guy/company can get out of it...you don't ''have'' to have an attorney to file suit even in the higher courts...another thought is some attorneys will handle things like this for a smaller fee, not contingent...let me know and I'll try and do some research for you...what about the better business bureau, is this company registered with them?

I just thought of something else, (I don't know about this so just a guess) have you tried the 'debt' forum (top of the page) I don't know if they only help folks get out of debt or if they could give some guidance as well on collecting debt...:)

No Lori I've not tried the Debt Forum, good thinking. I've spoken with BBB and it was nothing they could do but try to mediate and even then the company was not required to participate. Thank you Lori you've been a wealth of information.
