I AM DISPUTING A CLAIM WITH ENCOMPASS INSURANCE. I HAS AN ENGINE HYDROLOCK DUE TO FLOODING CONDITIONS. THE CLAIM WAS FINALLY APPROVED AFTER A FORENSIC INVESTIGATOR GOT INVOVLED AND THEY SAID THEY WILL REPLACE THE ENGINE WITHA JUNK YARD ENGINE. I UNDERSTAND THE LKQ CLAUSE BUT THIS ENGINE COULD BE BE JUNK AND FALL ON ITS FACE A MONTH DOWN THE ROAD AND THEN THE ENTIRE REPAIR FALLS IN MY LAP. FURTHERMORE WHO KNOWS THE SERVICE HISTORY OF THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE OIL COULD HAVE NEVER BEEN CHANGED OR CHANGED EVERY 15000 MILES INSTEAD OF 3000. I AN DIPUTING THE USE OF A JUNK YARD ENGINE AND WANT A REMANUFACTURED ENGINE INSTALLED WHICH IS A USED ENGINE RECONDITONED WITH NEW PARTS. WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF WINNING SUCH AN ARGUMENT

An anonomous contributor placed this in my 'in basket' I'm posting it here....this may or may not be related to another post.

First, please post your questions here in the discussion rather than in mail boxes...too easy for us to over look them, and you want all the information/contributors possible to respond right? I'm sure you just didn't understand....

Ok, first need to know a couple of things...year, make, model and mileage of your vehicle, and state that you are in...Also price difference between the used and reman motor....how many miles on the used motor?

LKQ stands for Like Kind (and) Quality...the motor they sourced should have same or less miles than yours...of course the shop should change oil etc, and go thru the motor checking for any problems and reject it if they find any.

Are you having this work done at one of your carriers 'preferred' shops? or a shop that your carrier will back with a warranty or guarantee? This is very important...Also the yards will generally back mechanical parts for about six months...some only 30- 90 days, but some amount of time....Answer these questions then we will be in a better position to assist you...

I guess he isn't entirely anonymous to us, Lori ;)He is NJE1281sc, one of our fellow community member. Though I'm not sure but the problem is sounding the same. Hope he won't kill me for revealing his identity....lol.

Anyways, my friend, the LKQ parts are tested ones and may perform with the same degree of efficiency that of the reman parts.

Regards,
Juanita
