How long does it take

Finally my atty seems to getting ready to settle my case. They informed me they had more than enough to get a settlement. Now my question is how long does this process take? They were in the process of gathering the last of my records. My family doc sent their records to my atty back on May 9 and the Regional pain facility I am still doctoring with (RSD) has sent their records recently also. The atty said once they got all this they would prepare a report to send off to the adjuster and wait for a response. Work is not working out for me very well and I am losing the battle of bills and struggling to stay a float. I would just like to know when I can approx. know anything. I asked the atty and they said they would contact me when they heard anything.

It was from your advise that I became a pain.LOL. That did get them moving. I can just see there faces when the receptionist said "it's her again".
I bet ransferring to a 0% interest card would be better than paying the loan fees at the bank. I didn't consider this option.I am not a big fan of cc's but had to take one out after this all "hit" me. LOL. Thanks again. Your advice about the transfer really upps my spirits. I guess sometimes when your stuck in a situation it is hard to find your way out of the mess when your emotions and stress are leading the way.
Do insurance companies usually fight policy limits?

I'm not big on cc either but they do have their place, and if you can transfer to zero interest for a year or so that would help...be sure and read all the fine print....

depends on the case re: policy limits....what are the limits do you know?

I always read and reread when commiting to anything like that.

I asked the atty. and they said that in PA they don't have to tell them what the policy limits are. Of course that was earlier in the game. Thats where I get confused. If they ask for policy limits how can they find out what they are? With my arm bieng a lifetime "disability" and the outlook so grim will they tell the atty what the lim its are?

No, we don't disclose either without a court order...if the injury is bad enough and the limits low enough we will tell either early on or at the demand, for instance if you have a really bad injury and only 10k in limits...it's silly to let it go on and on because 10k is the most the injured party can hope to get (from the at fault carrier)...why don't you call today and ask 'how much did you ask for your demand letter, (and) why am I not getting copies of all the correspondence?'

I will have to give them a call. Sadly it will have to wait until tomorrow. I left at 9:00 this morning and am just now getting home. It seems my stream of bad luck from the prior week is carrtying over in to this one. First my car broke down, same day someone at hubby's work took out the passenger window of my truck, then he was pulled over the next night for a license plate light. The rtuck was covered all but $50, the car was scanned by a computer and nothing found wrong cost $47.95 and the cop left hubby go. Now my truck is sittting at the dentist office and won't start. Gee whiz someone jinx me???? Just thought I would give ya a free chuckle on me.
Anyway Is RSD considered serious in an adjusters eyes? There is that and the TMJ proved to be caused by the accident and whiplash. I never mention any of the others casue the arm thing always seems the worst.

Okay...I thought why not just call while I am waiting for my hubby to come home so he can go look at my truck. at least it would take my mind off of what kind of extra money I have to come up with now.
I called and asked what the demand was and they said they were indeed asking for the policy limits because of the extent of my injuries. So I guess now all I can do is hope the other driver had decent coverage. She was a 22 year old girl who just happened to be driving her mothers car that day. Guess its back to waiting again?

What are your state minimum? also since she was driving mom's car, hopefully mom carried more than state min.

I believe that it is $15,000. That is what my insurance company told me when we discussed the accident. I am also hoping more was carried since she was driving mom's car. Guess I will wait and see. In the mean time I am just gonna see if there are any corners I can cut to save some money. I have considered taking my 2000 Grand am off full cocverage but when I called the ins. co. they said it was only $10.00 more a month to carry it so I don't feel the risk is worth the savings.

I see you answered my post on the home owners. All my policies are carried under my insurance company. Would you advise switching companies at this point. I asked my lawyer and they said it would be best to wait. I thought maybe the same thing since I may need the underinsurance on my own policy.

sorry call back...i don't believe that for a second! oh wait...how much do you pay per month on this car?

They can't deny the claim, but I'd stay put till this is all over and done with...

I pay $415 every 6 months. I keep thinking of dropping it down since it has 104000 miles on it. Plus I only drive it once a week.
I was thinking I was best to stay put also. As soon as all this accident stuff is taken care of then I will go and get other prices.
