Will they also figure in the mold remover? and the inspection to make sure that the mold is all gone? I mean in a sense it would be in their best intrest, because if the mold is still present it will become an issue again right?

So I just talked to my agent, and here's the deal: since we've gone on two years with no claims, it won't raise our premium to file and get this $1980 minus our $1000 deductible, leaving us with a $980 check. However, if we file a 2nd claim before our renewal date in November, our premium will rise 80%. If we make it the next year without filing a claim, it will rise 70%. The claim will be reset after five years.

My questions:

Is this a typical arrangement?

Should we file the claim or not?

God forbid, but what if I file a 2nd claim this year and my premium increases by %80, and then for some reason I have to file a 3rd claim? Or would they just drop me at that point? :)

yes i'd say that's pretty typical

well the claim has already been filed you just have to decide if you want them to pay on the claim...and that is something only you can decide, can you afford the 2k in damages yourself? have you found out for sure about the pad and mold yet?

Likely, three HO claims in a year would be alot they couldn't/can't do that or a rate increase until renewal though for whatever consolations that may bring..
