advice needed

I hit a deer a couple of years ago, and the insurance company totaled my car (a '99 Escort station wagon). Right or wrong, I decided to hang onto it, taking a lesser payment than I would have if they'd taken it. I repaired the minimum necessary to make it road worthy, and have been driving with a dented hood ever since.

Fast forward to last Friday: someone ran a stop sign and hit my car. 100% her fault. The body shop is saying it looks like a total loss.

Here's my question: can it be a total loss TWICE? Will her insurance company reduce the amount they give me because of a salvage title? I'm looking at this from a replacement cost scenario - I really can't afford a new car right now.

Also - should I tell her insurer that I have the salvage title?

Yes, and no, It was totaled, but repaired (kind of), and owner retained. So it was used as transportation after the original total. They will likely total it again. Is it driveable so that you can retain salvage again? If so that is the way you may want to go.

Yes, it will by at least 25%.

should I tell her insurer that I have the salvage title?

They will know anyway when they run a report, more than likely.

To be honest with you, this is what we call 'basic transportation', more than likely. (without seeing it I'm just guessing from your discription), so it probably carries a pretty low value. If it is driveable (as I said) you more than likley will want to do the same thing you did the last time.

Let us know what happens.

Yes, I also believe that there is no way that you can hide the salvage title!
