Hi everyone :)

I am new to this forum and i hope you guys can help me pick the right insurance for me.

Let me start:

I have a 3 cars

- Audi a6 avant (2.8 liter) 1999
- Audi a4 sedan (1.8turbo) 2005 (salvage title- rebuilt) (It was theft)
- Hyundai Excel (1.4) 1996

And there are 3 drivers :

- Me 18 years old i got my license about 5 months ago. I am going to drive audi a6 avant and then switch to a4 sedan.

- My mom she uses hyundai Excel to go to work. But she is going to use a4 as well.

- My dad he is going to drive audi a6.

My current Insurance:

- Audi a4 sedan is not registered yet so its not added to current policy.
- Only my mom and my dad are added to policy.
- Audi a6 avant and Hyundai excel.
- The insurance company is "Progressive"

My problems with current insurance:

- We are paying way to much for only 2 cars.
- If i am added to policy we would be being much much more.

So the real issue is money.

New insurance requirments:

- Audi a6 and Audi a4 insured in both ways meaning (For exmaple if I am driving and i hit a tree or something we will still get money back or if a tree falls on my car etc.)

-Hyundai just in one way so that if the person driving hits other car then the person hit gets money from our insurance.

- Not so pricey when teenage driver is added to policy.

EXTRA INFO

- We live in CT
- We came to USA about 3 years ago.
- My parents use to drive since they were 18. But they made U.S license about 3 years ago.

Thank you and i hope you understand what i wrote.
Sorry for my English.

Could you explain this more ? So if i am the principle driver on the hyundai (meaning i am the main driver ?)
I would still be able to drive Audi a4 ? and lets say crash it into tree ?

Yes, if mom and dad insure all three together, all three of you are drivers and you are ''rated'' (or as you said the main driver) of the hyundai then yes you can drive the a4 into a tree...but please don't! remember if you have collision and comp only will any 'vehicle' be covered for hitting a tree (collision actually unless something happened prior to hitting the tree...ins. is full of 'if's')....

The reason you should be 'rated' (main driver) on the hyundai, is because it is the least expensive of the three...again I personally wouldn't have coll/comp on that vehicle because it isn't worth much at all but that means, if you hit the tree in the hyundai no coverage for the hyundai, but will be coverage for the tree... (if no coll/comp coverage)

Re: Salvage titles...if the vehicle has been repaired most carriers will accept it alllowing you to purchase coll/comp coverage, however should you total it, do so knowing is is worth roughly 25-40% less with a 'branded' title...

I forgot to ask you (cause it makes a difference re: coll/comp) do you have loans on any of these vehicles?

Let me know if I'm not getting this across to you, or any other questions...

It's not just the fact you are not from US, insurance is very confusing for natives as well!

All vehicles were bought for cash.
I am not going to buy coll/comp for hyundai cause we dont care that much about this car. It runs good because my dad is a mechanic so as long it drives its ok.

So for a4 and a6 i would need to buy coll/comp in order for the insurance to cover damages when I hit the tree ? right ?

remember if you have collision and comp only will any 'vehicle' be covered for hitting a tree (collision actually unless something happened prior to hitting the tree...ins. is full of 'if's')....

I bet you were in hurry :P could you rewrite that for me ?

Thank you and sorry for troubles ...

I did a littler research.

I went on geico and insurance.com websites.

And it came out to be 1800 ++ for 6 months.

3 drivers / 3 cars
audi a4 2005 - My mom
audi a6 1999 - my dad
hyundai excel 1994- me

its like triple then what we are paying right now lol.

What do you guys think about that ?

thanks

That is correct.....for it to cover the damages to the car....less whatever deductible you select.

Sorry honey, I'm always in a hurry it seems.. ..what I wanted to make sure you understand is .... for the 'vehicle' it's self to have coverage to repair the damage to the car that was caused by hitting the tree you will need to have comp and collision coverage...The damage to the tree will be covered under your liablity (property damage) coverage, which you will have on all of the vehicles....It depends upon the circumstances surrounding 'why' you hit the tree if the applicable coverage would be comp or collision...

Thank you and sorry for troubles ...

No trouble, you're welcome...we'll just keep hashing this out until you find a resolution... :)

Ok you need to look at the COVERAGES AND DEDUCTIBLES that you have now....and then same on the quotes that Gieco gave you.. I'll bet there are many many differences...if you want you can (by car) list what you have now, and what they preposed and we'll go over them together.

And stay away from that tree, lol, just kidding, I know you are only using that as an example, but you keep referring back to it, so I could not pass it up.
