Has anyone had any experience with consumer driven options? We have four options, I am very happy with the HMO I use now, but we don't doctor much, and the consumer driven option lets you save money toward an elective surgery, like lasic surgery. I am afraid to jump boat because this plan I have has been great. Any experience you have had would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I think if you like the plan you're own, the best bet is to stay with it. If you think the other one might offer better savings and more options though, it's always worth a try. If you can switch back later, I'd give it a try. You never know. You'll always wonder if you don't give it a shot. Research it thoroughly though. Don't jump boat before you're totally aware of what you're getting into. Good luck with your insurance plans!
God bless you! Take care.

Consumer Driven Health Plans are often better than the older more traditional plans. Also as a general rule, you want to move to a newly offered policy because older plans that don't get as much "new blood" will have more claims filed on them and therefore the premiums for those plans tend to cost more than similar newer plans.
These are generalizations. You will need to put paper to pencil and do the arithmetic to determine which one is the better deal.

Hi Alston,
Do you know alot about these plans? I have option of about four different plans, all the cost is the same for me, very reasonable. Since the consumer driven is new, not a lot of the old timers know about it. I read about it but still did not feel that I knew enough to change over. Do you know enough about them to advise me or maybe just answer a few questions?
The regular coverage, like doctor appointments is still covered right? What are the cons of this type of plan?? Any advice that you can give would be great, thanks in advance.

Goodnatured, Does your work have anybody available that you could speak to on this matter? Sometimes they will sit with you and go through the pros and cons of a plan. In my husbands company they will do this. If you do decide to swtich and then do not like the plan you may have to stay with it for a certain time period before re-enrolling in your previous plan.
