Changes in Insurance Coverage

Sooo, I've been a public adjuster for 5 years. Time and time again, Ive seen the insurance companies rip off the home owner. Well here is the latest news.
Up until now, HO-3 policies cover "fallen objects". What does this mean for the h/o? If an object falls on their floor and chips/cracks a tile, the insurance company covers that loss. Heres how: They will send their adjuster out make a report. They will also send a tile expert to try and fix said tile. IF the expert cannot, they will replace the broken tile to a new one of the same color and type. IF the type is out of circulation, they will replace tile "EVERYWHERE" it is continous at R/C. So yes, they will pay the insured, the cost of replacing all the tile in the entire home, as long as it is continuous and there are no thresh holds. The limit of coverage falls under Coverage A Dwelling and is limited to that amount. Oh and this is the same for any plumbing related issues that require breaking through the floor to reach a pipe.

Insurance Companies are now capping the coverage on tile for falling objects and plumbing related perils to 10k. Regardless of how much the tile actually costs to replace. Meaning, the homeowner with Marble floors, or with tumbled stone or coral tile worth 100k will only get 10k minus deductible. This new endorsement limiting coverage is not at the request of home owners and they will not be getting a discount for the lesser coverage.

Homeowners need to do something to fight back against insurance companies trying to limit their job in essence. Their job is to insure. And every time they have to do that, they drop home owners, limit coverage or raise premiums. IF YOU ARE A HOME OWNER CONTACT ME. IF YOU ARE LEGAL, AND KNOW OF A WAY TO FIGHT BACK CONTACT ME AS WELL.

What service can you provide that will help these people who are having their policy changed when it renews?

BTW - they can't contact you until you take the time to register on the forum or at least post under the registered username.

You haven't mentioned anything regarding the cause of the stain. What was it that you'd dropped on it? You may call your home owners insurance agent and ask him to get the tiles inspected.

chances are such a claim would not really be worth while. 1 damaged (stained) tile?

The policy for falling objects reads:
This peril does not include loss to property contained in abuilding unless the roof or an outside wall of the building is first damage by a falling object. Damage to the falling object itself is not covered.

Would this be clasified as the same falling objects on HO3? if I dropped a lamp or a flower pot, would the chipped tile be cover.
