Well if you are really inclined to know about insurance policies then its better that you should invite quote from any of the top 4 insurance companies. there are many websites which lets you get online quotes and compare them.

Health plans are broadly categorized under Managed care and Fee-for-service plans. You also have comprehensive plan categories like PPOs, HMOs, POS.

Yes these are the broad classifications of the health care plans. but insurance companies come up with different plans ,covering various kinds of ailments and are priced differently.
so its always wise to get quote from atleast 4 providers.

The best thing you can do is to find yourself a independent insurance agent that you trust. This person can explain to you how all these plans work and help you find the plan that you want.

well relying on one unknown insurance agent or provider is always dangerous. its better to seek advices from more than one insurance agent/provider. go for the one which matches your requirements.

You will probably need to speak 3-4 , maybe 5 agents to find the one that you trust and feel comfortable with. All the agents have the same plans and premiums available to them. The rates are the same, even if you call the insurance company directly. Stay away from the "generic" type insurance carriers and you will be just fine.

Well not only that infact there are lots of websites available, which lets you review quotes from different insurance providers and compare the plans.
This will make your task a lot more easier.

Max,

Your post seem to not really want to help or answer questions but to insult others that have.

Do you have any answers for the forum user that asked about the different types of individual / family medical plans ??

Or are you just trying increase your number of posts ???

Look into other potential sources for health insurance. Alumni associations, professional groups, fraternal organizations and other associations often offer health coverage to their members.Find out if benefits are limited for preexisting conditions, or if you have to wait for a period of time before you're fully covered. As one of our friends said, it is better to consult three or four agents before taking a decision..
