I am 25/M/Non-smoker full time college student.

I am looking for a plan, I was leaning towards United Healthcare, one of their copay selects until I found out there is a 3 month waiting period. Does this mean that I cannot use the insurance for the first 3 months I am paying?

I need a plan I can use right away. Also one I can cancel at anytime, Can somebody recommend one. Thanks.

Price range is no more than 120.00 per month

You say that you're not a smoker. Is there any reason why you don't wanna wait till the waiting period gets over? See, I don't think all that's quick is good for us. Moreover, you must understand that the insurers cover your risks, but they don't cover you for anything that you already have.

I think you should invite quotes from atleast 4 providers or better visit those websites which lets you invite and compare different health insurance plans.

If this is true about the coverage, "medical" claims will not be paid for any events in the first three months. However, covered "emergency" claims will always be paid (subject to deductibles and copays).

But UnitedHealthcare is not the only insurance company out there. Work with a local agent who represents multiple companies to find the coverage most suitable for your needs.

First off, I would disagree with this. The Internet, as "good" as it is, is a tough place to look for insurance, especially for those lines of coverage in which there are lots of potential issues... like with health coverage. I think the OP needs to speak with an experienced agent instead.

Regarding the OPs post:

Chances are that this is a "probationary" period which is pretty common in individual medical expense coverage. This provision basically states that ILLNESS will not be covered for the first 3 months after the effective date. The purpose of the probationary provision is to make sure that you didn't buy the coverage because you either thought or knew something was wrong with you medically.

Probation generally only applies to illnesses and NOT accidents. You might know if you're ill, but you don't know you're going to be in an accident. so accidents/injuries are normally covered during the probationary period.
