the check from my insurence company was made out to me and my morgage company, I had to send the check off to be endorsed. The roofer was awaire of this and 2 weeks later is calling stating he will put a len on my property. Before I pay him is some type of release that I can have him sign to asure that he and his subcontractors will not be able put a lien again my property. The Endorsed Check should be here this week.

He is likely referring to a "mechanics" lien- this is pretty common and will go away once payment has been remitted to your contractor. This shouldn't hurt your credit at all, assuming he gets paid...
