While on company time, I was required to use my vehicle to go to job sites and perform work related duties without any additional compensation

Well I think you should be compensated appropriately for it, atleast what you spend on the fuel should be reimbursed to you.

As I have found out - you are required to use your own personal vehicle if asked to do so in FL, but I also found out that I would be required to purchase additional insurance to be covered in case os an accident.

most personal auto policies will not cover loss from business use unless specifically endorsed. check with your agent.

also its possible your boss may have covereage under his business's policies...you need to find out what and who is covered in the event of a loss during the scope of your business.

most companies pay mileage reimbursement, especially if it's expected all the time. if its to drop off a bank deposit on your way to lunch or occasional errand, not sure i'd rock the boat...but if you are concerned, bring it up and ask for some help; communication and proper approach is key to succsessful negotiations.
