The sewer line under our basement floor is cracked and we have a strong smell of sewer gas in the house. Is this type of loss covered under my home insurance? They have to to dig up the floor to get to the pipe.

I guess home insurance will only pay if the line was broken due to a covered risk. The covered cause could be something like - fire, a falling-object, wind, collapse of a building etc. Repairs are not covered under a home owners policy.
