Yes, there is insurance for pets, and they operate more or less like your own health insurance. Vet’s bills for vaccination, surgery, injury or illness can be covered under it.
This insurance also has limitations like age, pre-existing conditions and other exclusions.
Getting a pet insurance in your case might be difficult, as your pet already has a pre-existing condition. But you can still consult an agent to find out if you can get any.

Pet insurance is same as we do our medical insurance. Pet insurance reduces the risk of caring for our pet without much worrying about our “financial euthanasia”.so you should go for it as this will not burst your budget from hudge vet bills

And if your pet is already ill, you won't be able to get the insurance. It's called a PREEXISTING CONDITION. And although Obamacare is in the process of eliminating preexisting conditions, there is no provision to eliminate it for dogs, cats, parrots, ferrets, horse, sheep, cows, pigs, goats, or any other creature on Old McDonald's Farm.

Yes pet insurance is very beneficial for a pet owner as it not only makes sure your pet gets the right medical treatment but also helps you to combat the financial burden of expensive veterinary bills. It works more like our health insurance, so it is rather necessary if you really care for your pet.

You cannot get insurance for a pet that's already ill.

MaxHerr is right - insurance companies wouldn't insure a pet or human if it already has a pre-existing condition. And until provisions to reform this to insure high risk pets, your pet will have to forego coverage. This is called adverse selection - and it applies to patients and pets alike.

What about the companies that provide health insurance to people who are diabetic or have other chronic diseases???

I don't know about pets but people with pre-existing conditions may find health insurance, which will become an easy job in 2014

No insurance company is going to issue an individual medical policy to a person with preexisting conditions. Keep in mind that group insurance coverage has a different set of rules and cannot (generally) exclude for preexisting medical conditions, depending on when a person enrolls in their group plan.

Most states have safety nets that allow an individual to obtain medical coverage through a high-risk pool if they've been declined for individual coverage. The state pools have nothing at all to do with affordability and should not be confused with a state's Medicaid program.

As mentioned, ObamaCare has had a tremendous influence on preexisting conditions exclusions. Right now, kids 18 or younger cannot be denied coverage due to pre-x, and that law will hit the entire country in 2014.

Get ready for a tremendous spike in premium.

If the ObamaCare law makes health insurance more accessible but less affordable, what good will it do ultimately?
Are the premiums going to be hiked even for a person who's absolutely healthy with no pre-existing conditions???
