Friends, I have just come to know that a friend of mine who is in a medical profession for years, had been involved in a healthcare scam. Now I would really love to know if it is at all possible that people involved in such a noble profession could also be a part of a scam ?

Please reply,

My friend, its time we should understand that health care frauds are not usually committed by the providers themselves. These frauds may be committed by patients, brokers or others. Its been perceived that only a small fraction of the insurers are involved in such insurance scams. The doctors who are a part of the noble medical proffession are not usually expected to form a part of such scams but a person's desire to acquire more might certainly lead him ashtray. But as of now such instances are rare.

Yes, unfortunately it happens, probably less than 1% of docs are involved, just look at prior posts on this topic about the chiropractor. It's a sad state, but it does happen, and greed knows no boundry, including those in a noblest of professions, sad isn't it.

It doesn't matter what profession you are in- there are always going to be a "bad apple" in the bunch. Like Lori said, greed usually gets the best of them. I have friends that are Doctors, Lawyers, and Judges, no profession is immune.

Up until a few months ago, there was a Doctor that was prescribing any type of pills you wanted. You only had to go in and "claim" pain or anxiety. I found this out through a client of mine who always was stoned, but said he was under a Doctors care Laughing

I called our friend, who is also a Doctor, and he took care of it as far as reporting him..KAren

Yes, it does happen. You'll be surprised that professionals may be somehow involved, its because they knew something that can propagate the fraud. I think its the intention u must look at and not the profession or title. You'll be later on surprised at how many professionals can get involved with scam.

Remember: 'With great power comes great responsibility.' (Maybe, they just can't resist it. Lol Smile )

Dear friends,

It is sad that professionals too have started to indulge in illegal activities just for the sake of earning money. In India, several doctors are prosecuted for indulging kidney transplant operations by removing the kidney of poor people by alluring them with money. Organ trade has become a lucrative business for doctors now.
