It depends on the policy. If you have included their names on the application at the time of enrollment then only they are covered.

You'll have to ask whoever gave the policy directly. Even though some health insurance policies will cover your wife and kids and maybe your parents, unless it specifically says that it covers them, it doesn't.

That's the thing with insurance, it gets followed to the letter, no mention, no cash. Be sure to ask about it directly, there's no such thing as a stupid question, even if there is one, you wont be the one asking it.

If you gave their names at any time, there is a good chance that they're included on the policy, but you must ask. Ask and be a fool for five minutes, don't ask, be stuck with hospital bills for life. There's an incentive for you.

You need to check your policy, see who is listed on it. Did you get cards for your other family members?

If you need to add other family members, it will be a good idea to find a broker in your area with at least 10 years of experience. Often, the company with the most competitive rate for individuals, is not the best choice for a family.

Also...is maternity a concern? This will be a factor in determining which policy is best for you.

One final note: Please stay away from "discount plans" and make sure the company is rated "A" or better by A.M. Best Co.
