Hi Lori, I have a question for you. Lets say I was in a accident with only my vehicle. Iam not sure of the provisions on my auto policy regaurding alcohol, but lets say I was drinking. Was taken away from the vehicle and never filed a police report. The vehicle was towed and there was no "hold" on it. Basically just wondering if you think it would be "covered" or not. Anyway lets say I was drinking was not arrested for dui but maybe there was a bottle in the car or something who knows and they ask me to sign a form saying there was none in "my system" Just wondering what you would say will happen?

(above was left in my in box, user is not registered so I could not respond privately)

I think its the same member who have posted regarding DUI some days back, at least the problem sounds similar.

Anyways, the answer remains the same. The coverage provider will not deny the claim, even if it involves the DUI, if such exclusion isn't mentioned specifically in the policy.

BTW, Lori, why are you posting as a guest??

Hi,

But Jeremy I really don't believe Lori would have any good reason to try that as a guest when she already is a moderator.

In the first place, I don't think the provisions regarding DUI would really vary so much between the states. Why would a coverage provider deny claims?

But you must have been truly drunk or in your nightmares to have imagined of such a situation wherein you're getting carried by people after screwing up so hard & still not getting pinned for it!
Stop daydreaming & get us more facts regarding it, since you have not mentioned a single thing regarding the injuries & damages or for that matter regarding the real magnitude of the hazard.
And guys please don't repost to gather your points, since this process won't help you any further. Thanx, Fatman

yes, it will be covered...i've never seen one denied, policys rarely have an dui exclusion...

Well you will clearly lie about right? there's no way for them to prove you were drinking right?I've never heard of this form you are referring to was it from the cops or your carrier? either way should be covered, check your policy for a dui exclusion...learn an lesson, get on your knees and thank the Good Lord you didn't kill anyone, and give up the booze...atleast while driving..

I had some trouble this morning, couldn't get logged in Jeremy, had to get help from webmaster!

I'm having a tough time too... getting up and back to work over the long weekend. Can the webmaster help me with that? :)

OP, who would have asked you to sign something if no police report filed? I don't know why "someone" would have you sign someone stating you did not have alcohol in your system. That makes no sense (it's like asking a bank robber to sign a statement saying he did not rob a bank). If your car was towed, their is probably a police report.

No, but the claims master's can!

I agree, I can't figure out what she signing unless it is maybe a written accident statement from either the cops or her carrier...
