What's PPI?

Hey! What's PPI? I have come across this term very recently. I'll appreciate if someone can help me with it. TimkJones

MichaelS: Payment Protection Insurance is not mandatory on all loans or mortgages - if you have sufficent equity and debt servicing abaility you can probably avoid this.

On a long term debt like a mortgage though it can be a very good idea to get it - but shop around. The PPI (or MPI - Mortgage Protection Insurance) provided by most banks or lenders is inflated in premium as they cash in on convenience. Look around at some other providers.

PPI doesn't apply to auto insurance unless the OP meant to say PIP, in which case it would mean Personal Injury Protection. PIP covers medical expenses arising out of an auto accident which the insured has faced.
