I am a multi Line Insurance Adjuster. I am interested in finding a job in the Tampa, Orlando area as an auto adjuster. I have the license, but cannot find a job. I have sent hundreds of emails/resume's to companies that are hiring. Can you help me find employment? I have emailed recruiters, called insurance companies, logged on to careers.com, called and emailed staffing agencies. Why am I having such a difficult time getting employment. Can you help me find what I want to do, have experience in autos and want to do this? I need all the help you can give me.'

Good morning Wanda and welcome to the community!
I'm really surprised you are having trouble, unless there is a surplus of adjusters in that area of Florida...I assume you have apply with the top three or four companies? What about 'greatinsurancejobs.com'? Have you tried there?
There must be a flooded market there in Tampa/Orlando.......sorry, but I'll surely keep my ears open. Good luck! |

I lived in Tampa for about 25 years and worked for about 7 different insurance companies in that area.
You mention two area about 1 1/2 hours apart. I'm guessing you don't live in the area? If not, yes you will find it _very_ difficult to get anyone to look at your resume. I wanted to move from Tampa to Salt Lake City and had the same problem.
You'd be hard pressed to find a company in Tampa that would move you to that area. There are adjusters available in the area already and Tampa attracts companies who are looking for inexpensive labor. This does _not_ mean that there are not job openings nor that a company won't pay a decent wage, though. Don't worry about that.
You mentioned being a multi-lines adjuster so I'm 99.99% sure you have some good experience. If you have experience there are going to be many companies that would hire you if you were local. If you were living in the area and sent out 5 resumes to companies with ads out, you'd get 4-5 to call you right away to come in for an interview.
If you could move without a job I have little doubt you could then find a job within a couple of months. Getting a job before you move would be very difficult as I know of very few companies that would fly you in for an interview (actually, I don't know of any).
My suggestion would be to draft a _very_ good cover letter to include with your resume to convince the company that you _are_ going to move to Florida. Unfortunately almost all insurance companies now have web applications but most will still accept a cover letter. I'd also _highly_ recommend calling HR about a week later and following up with them. Explain that your calling as you understand most companies don't give much weight to people out of state but then explain why your different and about your experience. Just sending out resumes is not going to cut it.
If you move without a job there are also a few insurance temp agencies that are very good. They are located in both Orlando and Tampa.
Just wondering... were do you live now? |

Right, its very surprising that you are finding it difficult to manage a job with such profile. I would love to believe that it is only a bad patch of time you are going through and it will soon get over. Wishing you all the luck. |
