I believe this is addressed in the other threads isn't it? If not, then of course it's ok for you to make the offer...I personally always like for the 'other guy' to start regardless of which position I'm in... _________________ **************************************

It would be certainly OK to make an offer to the adjuster.
If you believe that you have done a proper estimation of your damage, you can place an offer before them. But avoid overestimating your damage and also don't left out any important factor which may influence the claim needs. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

It may or may not, depending on the situation. Once you refer an amount, all the negotiation will depend upon it. Hence, if you have undervalued your claim, you may end up getting even less for the damages. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

| This is addressed in another post, but you never want to make the first offer. Let the insurance company do it. Ask yourself, would you go to a car dealer and give a first offer without first seeing the sticker price. Going second is the biggest card you are holding. Remember, they hold the money that you want and you don't want to short change yourself. |

| If you do decide to do this yourself, which I agree is a really bad idea,I hope you know what your claim is worth. I believe once it is settled..it is settled and you could cheat yourself. |

| Dasfuk is right on. Perfect analogy. No way you make the first offer. |
