I lost my medical insurance policy papers sometime back. I went to my insurer for help and they are saying that my name is not listed in there company's medical policy list. Is any way there to get my old policy back. Is the company cheating me?

Thanks
Adriano

I would call the insurance company directly. They can usually look up your coverage or policy by using your social security number.

If you have coverage through your work, it may be listed under your companies name so you would have to talk to the person at your company that handles your benifits.

Do you know if you have been paying your bill? Is your coverage through work or did you purchase it on your own? This will help me answer your question better.

Yes, contact the companies main or home office. You should have better luck there. If you have a policy they will find it, and agree with prior post there HAS TO BE a way to trace this payment, thus proving there is a policy in force (if they are accepting payments).

You should always have a copy of important documents as a "backup" It's the insurance for your insurance.. bad joke. Mat I suggest a company called Digitally Documented Inc? They have made a business of protecting what is important to you. They have a website to visit. I suggest you "google" them.

Often the policy has been misplaced and no one knows who to contact in order to make a claim on the life insurance policy.

Here some steps in this case:

1. The first thing to do to locate your standard or joint life insurance policy information is to check with a previous employer for records. Even if the employer was not involved in the issuance of the life insurance policy, they may have required this information for emergency purposes depending on the job responsibilities and the employer.

2. Check through old records. Often even an old or outdated policy may lead to the information you need. Standard and joint life insurance policies are often sold through brokerages to larger insurance companies. Often you are able to find out who is the current policy provider through a previous agreement because of this.

3. It is unlikely that you would know who the insurance broker is, but if you do, they would be able to pull the records and find the insurance company. This is often the case if the broker is a family member or a friend.

4. If all else fails, you can mail off to American Counsel of Life Insurance and they may be able to produce the information. Here is the address:

American Council of Life Insurance
1001 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20004-2599

or

American Council of Life Insurance (ACLI) -- http://www.acli.com/
(see -- http://www.acli.com/ACLI/Consumers/Life+Insurance/Locating+a+Missing+P olicy/).

Be sure to include a self-addressed and stamped business size envelope. The way this process works is they will forward your request to over one hundred of the biggest life insurance companies to see if they own the policy. If they are able to locate the policy, then they will forward you a copy of it by mail. A nominal fee is charged for this service.

How appropriate for a FRAUDSTER such as milfordct to post his plagiarism here in the insurance fraud forum.

Hi,

Just go and talk to them politely once again. If still they repeat the same story, you should definitely file a claim. Be sure to take the assistance of an insurance professional.
