Quality Time with your Kids

What are you thoughts on family quality time? What are some things that you do with your family for quality time? I have a four year old who I make every effort to make each moment quality time with her, even if we are putting laundry in the washer, or taking them out of the dryer, I make sure that we have discussion during this chore. We have some wonderful conversations that often leads into some pretty far out subjects and I have to some how find a way to loop it back around, I sometimes have to remind myself that she is only four and I must go back in time and be four all over again to be part of her pint size world.

She has always been so helpful and volunteering since I can remember, I have always given her the respect she deserves as a human being since the day she came home with me. In return, she has respected me and the other people she encounters through life.

I think that you get what you give, they are not too young to be respected, listened to, conversated with, their opinion counts, they have something valuable and intelligent to offer even at the tender age of four. Someday, she will walk out the door a young lady, someday she will be married, someday she will have children of her own, someday she will be the woman that I hope has a strong foundation and is wise enough to make good decisions.

We, as parents, who say, I don't have time, you know what, this little people don't have to have time set aside for them, get them involved in what you are doing. Four hands are better than two, two heads are better than one. They really appreciate it when you let them help with the big people chores. My little one will tell me, “You did a good job mom” Now, I have to wonder where she heard that? She will tell me, “ You can do it mom” She is my biggest cheerleader and I am hers, she is a blessing to me, and I appreciate all the joy she has given me.

You don't have to make a chore list or hand out gold stars, your voice, your expressions, your words mean the world to them, you are their heros, so take the opportunity to spend time with them. There is no excuse not too.

I adopted her hummingbird, I meant that I never gave birth, LOL.

Went shopping today and stopped into the goodwill store, had a blast, found a big fluffy, bright red square dancing skirt, a big white lacy wedding veil, clip on earrings, perfect pile of junk for dress up. That skirt really flies when she does circles and spins. LOL, I love the goodwill and today was customer appreciation day, 50% off, wooohoooo. Glad the husband was not along, he would not have appreciated the trip, you know men.

Yes, I do know men and no, mine would not like that either.Have you ever noticed that if you go shopping with a man that he stands and looks forever at things that interest him and then when you do it, he is grumbling about how long you take to look? I like Goodwill too but there is none here.I used to go all the time where I used to live in SC.

yeah hummingbird I know what you mean and their excitement level is over the top too, they don't understand why you don't get all excited about what they look at, but they get sooooooooooooo bored at what you are looking at. Never got that about them, better off leaving them at home. LOL

omg, I like the goodwill too, they have seemed to get away from the junk shop mentality and taking it seriously as a business, you can find some really good bargains there. Still have some junk, but over all I think they have filtered that out pretty good.

I bet she loves the puffy skirt, do you play dress up with her goodnatured? gosh, I remember those days, so much fun, only thing is that you can't quit once you start right, may as well keep the stuff on for the day. 4 and 5 is such a fun age, their imagination is so much fun right now. Have fun and enjoy!

I take every opportunity to communicate and involve my kid in everything that we do. I think it helps her and us understand each other and learn more and more about each other, she changes so much in a matter of a week. One week she can be a tom boy, next week she is my darling princess. I enjoy seeing the difference sides of her. We all have them, LOL.

I am definately blessed. Ran out of cooking gas, so I have to hook up my grill gas for the weekend to do the cupcakes, LOL. Fudge and cupcakes, and then we will give the majority of them to friends and family. I am not going overboard, she will like to decorate them. She will love to give them to others, LOL. she is a good girl.

How would you cook cupcakes on a gas grill?I am curious about that...lol Me and my son used to make cupcakes together when he was about 6 or 7 and we would put white icing into several cups. Then I would let him make and mix colors with food colors to create different colors. It was a fun thing to do together.funny that was so many years ago and now I have 2 daughters that i have never did that with.
