Ok, guys lets get back on topic here, huh???

Bobbie,
My hubby's company just got bought out and they have this insurance, you need to visit their website and check for providers in your area.

IF there are none there it is going to be up to you to establish that network, they have a "nominate a provider" section. So if you have a physician that you prefer you can nominate them and they will have to go through the process.

This applies to eye and dental also. goodluck and be patient with the process it may take a few weeks, so you need to get it in place so it is there if you happen to have an emergency.

let me know if you need help, being the chick of the house, I had to do all of this:) I will be happy to help you.

I know Lori, we can all help each other out here. LOL

Bobbie,

A few more things that I forgot to mention. We had highmark before this new company took over and introduced this new plan. I have to let you know that our vision provider was not open to do all the paperwork involved in getting on the provider list and this is their choice. We paid for the appointment and the glasses and then the pchs carrier reimbursed us, so you may want to start two dialogs to figure out how to handle this.

1. Check with your provider and see if they are willing to do the paperwork to become a member of the pchs network, some of them are hesitant, you may have to find a new provider if this is the case.

or

2. Talk to the pchs side of the house and let them know that you have problems getting providers to sign on, ask them what reimbursements are available to you or what they suggest to get providers on board.

If you have to get providers on board, then it will definately take some leg work and follow up on your part. Stick with it and keep an open dialog going until you get the results that you need, it is your coverage.

Good advice GN. I think sometimes providers do not sign on because they have to take a cut in what they actually get paid. For instance the dentist bills a non insurance holder $75 to fill a cavity but if they sign up with a health insurance provider they have to accept $55 as a final payment and can not bill the member the remainder of the fee. I think sometimes those of us who have insurance do not fully recognize the number of people with out it or those who don't have certain coverages like eye and dental. So some health care providers may see more of an income from those who self-pay.

True, I know with the vision on this particular insurance the reimbursement to us was 80% up to $500 dollars, This is the best eye coverage we have ever had. I was really amazed. It used to be that my insurance paid about half and we had to pay the remainder. So there are pros and cons to this.

The bad part is that you have to have the money up front and sometimes that can be tough to come up with. Not every month I have $590 bucks laying around. I was impressed in their reimbursement and in the turn around time. I had a reimbursement check with in 15 days.

That is also how are plan operates. The limits are alot less but it is enough to cover our needs. They only pay for one eye exam so I do have to pay the extra towards a contact lens exam. The time our money is returned is also fairly quick so all and all I like the plan we have. Most people are really lucky to even have eye so I sure am not complaining.

I just don't like that the providers are not open to getting on the list, I think that they should have to get on it or you just pick a new one. I know a lot of people would not have the $586 laying around with the price of everything else to pay for the glasses and they probably would just put it off completely. When it is either put food on the table, gas in the car or glasses on your face, which one will win.

It took me a few pay days to have the extra money left over to do this and we both work, I can't imagine how many people have put it off because of the up front cost.

Yes I agree. In our case it is not the fact of getting on the list because there is no list. You just pay up front and the employer pays you back out of a fund they have in place. Everything else has a plan jut not this. It may happen in the future because they are making the medical better and better every six months along with the pay raises. Last 6 months they added zero pay lab and diagnostic, emergency room, in hospitol and gave the guys a raise. Now they just added zero pay for generic drugs (use to be 20%) another raise and double their christmas bonus....So I really can't complian..unless...Mc Cain wins and starts taxing insurance benefits.

What McCain, you just wait till Obama starts handing out his freebies to all these people that don't work, that money has to come from somewhere, guess where, taxes that is where.

I am really leary about this administration, I will keep my mouth shut, sit back and see, hopefully he does us ok.

I honestly say that we are going to pay one way or the other. Thats honestly the wat I feel. I think personally we could cover one heck of a lot of debt if we revised the whole welfare and social securuty system...Welfare was suppose to be a hand up...not a handout lasting most if not all of some peoples lives. Sama cab be said about the social security disability system.
