Well, you are right that you may not qualify for the Medicare. The option remains for you is the private healthcare coverage providers, i.e. you may have to search for insurance in the private market. You may check out the following site for more information.

Hope this helps.

Though it may not be impossible to get health coverage as a visitor to this country but its cetainly expensive. Hence, you need to shop carefully comparing both the coverage and the price for the plans available for the immigrants. Here is another resource for you to check out the options available<<nriol.net/immigrant-health-insurance/

Not before 5 years I guess..once you have stay in the US for 5 years and possess your green card...then you may surely apply for Medicare with the US govt. I think it would termed as Medicare Part-A which covers you for the hospitalization charges as well as the costs associated with surgeries.

I think you are going to find it dificult to find a decent health plan in the states if you are over 65. I specialize in medicare insurance and have worked with several people imigrating to the us and was not able to find anything worth the premium. You might consider taking the premium you would spend on insurance and put it into a savings account to pay for health care costs. Your premiums wil likely be close to 500 to 1000 a month. You will just have to consider your health and what your medical history is to determine if this would be a suitable option for you.

Once you have your greencard you will be able to purchase medicare for a premium based upon your income among other things.

There are religious organizations that offer their members health insurance
that is competitive. Google and see where they are . It may be worth while to join them. They have helped a lot of folks.

Well i think there is surely no policy for you and your wife so better use to get some private policies for you both.Better ask for a life insurance before going there.many times it seems expensive to use such ploicies.

Possibly a policy from your home country that can protect you here. Very few insurance companies offer plans to those over age 65.
