I've been advised to go for a cosmetic surgery. Are such surgeries covered under health insurance? _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

If elective, no, if medically necessary then yes, it should be...call your health provider and ask. _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake. | I'm sure your health insurer will demand all the medical documents that support such surgeries. Your doctor will probably need to certify the cause with all details. |

| If a cosmetic surgery is "reconstructive" in nature, then it will be covered under health insurance. The worth of such coverage will differ for each case. |

Aren't tummy tucks covered? I'm sure, they're performed to keep our heart problems at bay! _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

"Tummy tucks" are not normally covered. They do nothing to resolve a heart problem. However, if an insurance company authorizes a bariatric procedure, they will almost always pay for one "tummy tuck" to deal with all that excess skin that won't go away on its own after about 6-9 months post-op.
Bariatric procedures are not covered by all policies. They may be covered as a medically-necessary (i.e., life-saving) procedure. _________________ California-licensed Property & Casualty Broker-Agent and Life & Health Agent.
