i am a retired veteran with combat rated disability. my wife who is 55 only has some of my
benefits, limited hospital care in catchment hospital
in this surrounding area. i am afraid that if she was
subjected God forbid! to a serious sickness and has
to hospitalized she will not have sufficient coverage
for her medical and hospital care. She has no other
plan but the one for me which is limited in her case.
since i am her sponsor and she is my dependent

I would recommend that you look into a PPO plan with a higher deductible ranging from 5-10k to cover the catastrophic and expensive stuff. I would need to know more about what she is currently covered for but I am going to assume you are relativley comfortable with her coverage for regular docotors vistis and preventative care exams and tests. If this is the case than the high deductible PPO plan would keep her montly premiums lower and still provide coverage for the big medicare bills. Just be sure you put some real thought into how much of a deductible you could pay if something happened without it causing you too much financial hardship.

Yes, the OP would need to be careful in choosing the deductible. I say this since there are a lot of people who'd choose a higher deductible in order to pay a lower premium.
But if it's difficult for them to pay for the deductible when needed, then it's of no use to them at all. We should never forget that the carrier would only reimburse once we'd pay for our deductible and not before that.
