The driver's insurance company sent out an independent appraiser as they only insure cars. His estimate was $2215. I obtained bids from 3 licensed contractors. Their bids average $9750. Posted: Fri Jan 16, 2009 12:21 pm   Post subject:    Well, since the appraiser is an independent one, who would receive commission if he can successfully close the case at lower amount, there is a fair possibility that the insurance company is lowballing the claim intentionally. I'd suggest that you hire an independent adjuster to evaluate the claim's worth.
