They're the intermediaries between different insurers and the clients that they have. They'd generally have different organizations, businesses or individuals as their clients. They're pretty much aware of the industry risks as well as the activities in the global insurance market.

Their responsibilities would vary with the nature and volume of business they're involved in. A broker would work towards a specific area in a large concern.

Brokers who work for smaller firms are involved in a lot of work. Some are involved in generating new business, while some are working as claims broker.
