What sort of gifts you give away (legally) to your insurance customers to promote goodwill?

It depends on the state that you're in. Some states allow up to a certain amount of $$ to be given annually to each client for "promotional activities" and it's normally maxed out at somewhere around $25.

Other states do no allow ANYTHING of VALUE to be used as a sales inducement (very loosely interpreted term) other than that promises contained within the policy.

Lastly, some states have "rebating rules" of which I'm hoping you're aware!

What state are you in, and maybe I can help some more?

I do not think giving away gifts will help. Clients are smart these days and they are aware of these kind of tactics.

Hi,

I think this is nice trick to promote customer goodwill.

Yes, You can give them some amount annually to promote activities. You can keep the new schemes to promote them.If your trick is best they will automatically promoted.

Thanks

What to you mean by 'amount'? Is it a portion of your commission from the sale? I'd like to know what types of gifts are 'okay' to give to the clients. Daniel, can you throw some light upon it?

Thanks,
Rupert

Rupert

i was referring this sentence in relation to the charity to some organization and let the customer knows that you have donated some amount to the philanthropy so in this way one can get a good will in the eyes of the prospectus as well as existing customers.

I guess offering them gifts in kind would only reduce your goodwill. But, it's certainly advisable that you stay in touch with them and don't forget to wish them on their special occasions. You may also earn your goodwill by emailing the industry updates or policy updates from time to time.

Hey Steven..

Staying in touch with your customers is always important since it's 'they' who'd generate your business. It is not about wishing them only on their special occasions like birthdays or marriages. You should utilize every single opportunity that you get to interact with them.

Once you've sold your product or service it's your responsibility to inquire whether the new customer is facing any problems with it. Be it a small gift voucher or a small discount that he's not aware of - you should be able to inform him about it. So, be it Christmas or the new year season try to build a network around you. This would surely help you in the long run.
