I was into real estate sales and acquired my P & C license a couple of years
back. I'm looking forward to start an insurance agency of my own. Any suggestions?

You should establish a sound business policy. You should be able to develop clear strategies that help the growth of your business network. You should know how and where to identify your prospective customers.

It would depend a lot on whether you find the right employees to fulfill your objectives. You'll need to keep an eye on their qualifications while you're appointing them. Also, you'd need to improve your sales strategies to meet your targets.

Identify your area of expertise. If you're licensed to sell P & C insurance then it's natural for you to start your P&C insurance agency. At the same time, I'd suggest that you obtain further education and satisfy the state norms in order to expand naturally. Also, keep an eye on the expenses associated with the growth and expansion of your business.

Another thing that you must look up to is a consistent source of funds. If you lack adequate funds, then you'd need to borrow from banks or the Small Bu. administration. Some banks are skeptical about offering loans to new businesses. The SBA is a better option in this regard.

While proposing a loan, be sure that you have all the details concerning your expenses. Don't forget to include any of your initial costs. Once you'd provide your cost details, it would help the lenders follow your objectives.
