The answer to this question is yes. I have noticed people have been having some problems with these so called internet leads. I just want to let all of the forum members know that I found a great source of leads and they are much cheaper than anything else I have seen. The service is call live transfers and the company that provides the leads is called Transfer Guru. They only charge you $15 per live person they send to your office or whatever phone you wish to give them. The nice thing is that these are people that have listened to a pre-recording message and are interested in getting better insurance rates. Give them a try, we have had some great success with their services.

I am in P&C and we use a couple different avenues. First we do name recognition ads and have to to compete with the big names. A big thing that we do is sponsorship events, ie; bike shows, car shows, fairs, etc. With doing this we typically have a drawing for something fun. From these drawings we have been creating our mailing lists. Along with these mailing lists come our quarterly newsletters to our current cients that includes mentioning constantly about our referral program.

I ran a questionnaire to every single customer and the major influence in making a purchase was resoundingly Word of Mouth. Of the 63% returned, 86% of that 63% stated Word of Mouth as their major influence when making a purchase compared to TV, Radio, Print, Billboard and Direct Mail. Work on your name recognition and make sure your "reputation precedes you" and you will see results.

Fresh Leads Unite looks like a good live lead transfers service provider. They offer live leads for as low as $2.19 each sales transfer. Not bad I thought. So then I tried them and have seen extreme success. My sales have tripled and we have been doing excellent even in the recession.

Check out Fresh Leads Unite on Google. Not able to post the link here I think?

Like I mentioned, I have been successfully generating my own leads for the last 7 years now, and it has only gotten better and better. I have tried buying leads online or from telemarketing companies and have found that they are very crummy leads.

The process I use is really pretty simple: First I create a compelling postcard, which has an attention grabbing headline, testimonials, a unique selling proposition and some kind of interesting story. It also has a direct call to action, which is usually 'call my office now at 888-888-8888'.

Second, I either have a secretary or another employee answering the phones and I have them capture all the contact information of that person calling: eg. name, phone number, physical address, email address, fax, (if they have one) and then I have them set an appointment to talk to me.

That way I work with clients on my own time and I am positioned as someone that isn't chasing business.

This has worked well for me - hope this helps.

I too have been impressed by Fresh Leads Unite. They sent live interested people who want to buy my products to my call center. We currently have approx. 20 agents answering the phone calls.

I have been very happy with Fresh Leads Unite.

I think we can see what is happening with 2 out of the last 3 posts. It is obviously a salesman trying to push their company. Sorry buddy...we are a little smarter than that. Plus I agree with Beach...they just don't work. Referrals and sponsorships are were we get most of our business. I've tried the lead generators and the ROI is just not there.

Hi-Tech Prospecting is my favorite. This is where you conduct a comlimentary policy review for 20 people, find the 8 that have been lied to about the terms and conditions of their policies and tell these people that you'll help them. You then introduce these people to an investigator who in turn developes the cases for law firms (you always keep in touch with the people). In 12 - 24 months the cases usually settle and the people you promised to help now have a pocket full of of money. You then come back and sell them a policy or an annuity that does work for the.

Because you've always been there for them and you've gone out of your way to help them in a time of need, they trust you and will not hesitate to do business with you and send you referrals. You now have friends for life.

I tried out transfer guru this past summer, didn't get much in the way of sales, but it was great fun taling to the people mad that an autodialer was calling them, the lonely people who wanted to talk, and especially the drunks....(and i'm not being sarcastic, it was fun)

And then I got my cell phone bill...

I barely broke even.
