The answer to this question is yes. I have noticed people have been having some problems with these so called internet leads. I just want to let all of the forum members know that I found a great source of leads and they are much cheaper than anything else I have seen. The service is call live transfers and the company that provides the leads is called Transfer Guru. They only charge you $15 per live person they send to your office or whatever phone you wish to give them. The nice thing is that these are people that have listened to a pre-recording message and are interested in getting better insurance rates. Give them a try, we have had some great success with their services.

I'm sorry, but I just don't understand why anyone would pay $14 for a single name and phone number when all they have to do is ask a customer for four people who might need to take a look at their insurance program, i. e. marriage, divorce, new home, new baby, new job, job promotion. Free is much better than 14 bucks to me.

Exactly, Insurance Maze and the good thing about customer recommended leads is that it makes you earn your reputation, keeping people honest and in the customer care priority.

You want good sales, sale a quality product and take care of your customers and your leads will come in for free, I don't care if you are selling underwear or insurance, a good trusting relationships with your customers will always outweigh names on some database.

Word of mouth, trusted and true, nothing like good customer service for good advertisement.

I have posted about two dozen reviews of Internet leads on some of the other Forums in which I participate.

In a nutshell...each person will have a different degree of success with lead companies. Some love Netquote. Others avoid it like the plague. Some swear that VIMO is the greatest lead company out there. Others avoid VIMO at all costs.

I'll be happy to give anyone my unbiased opinion of a particular company. I try to review all aspects, including costs, filters, demographics, affiliate associations etc...My charge is only $5,000 and..no...just kidding. No charge at all.

And there are a few that I will warn you to stay away from. A good rule of thumb is do NOT prepay with a large deposit and insist on a free lead bonus of at least $50.

A "lead" is nothing more than a name and a phone number.

Successful agents understand that prospecting is their #1 priority each and every day and no agent would EVER fail if he/she devoted 2 hours per day each and every day to prospecting.

Buying leads is a waste of money when generally speaking there are more clients within a 10 mile radius of your office than you could EVER see in a lifetime.

My 2 cents which in 1913 had the purchasing power of 43 cents today!

I think a good way to get leads is to get out in your community, get your name know, keep a clean reputation and do what you say that you will do, when it comes to word of mouth power, you can not beat it. Find community events and organizations to belong to and get to know people, in turn, let them get to know you as a trusted person.

The poster above, 'goodnatured' makes a good point, you need to make a name in your community.

This is one "ocean" of marketing. Further, you should take advantage of other types of marketing. For example direct marketing. Door hangers, door knocking, etc...

I just think that being known in your community, volunteering for things and etc would put your name out there and if the need arises that people would automatically think of someone they know.

eg: Car breaks down, well Larry that coaches little league with me has a garage. You know this kind of word of mouth is priceless, you will be surprised how much weight is put on this type of advertisement. People will go to those they know and trust first.

As far a "good leads" are concerned, if you are talking about internet leads there are several types to consider and most lead companies offer a selection of these types:

1. Exclusive Leads - these are either cherry picked or direct generated for one agent. Expensive but effective. Sometimes hard to find or only offerded by lead companies after doing bussiness with them for awhile.

2. Filtered Leads - Shared leads that have demographic filters such as age, income, health condition, etc. These can be effective if you are more comfortable with a certain demographic.

3. Shared Leads - The general leads that most agents buy, these tend to be sold to several agents (or agencies) so competition is feirce so you have to contact the prospect quickly.

4. Discount Leads / B-Leads - Thease are cheap because they are aged but can be effective for their price. They might have never been called, couldnt buy at the time, or mande a choice the are now not happy with.

5. Uninsurables - They are the most in need and have use for rx plans and discount plans. They will take any help that they can get.

Don,t limit yourself to only internet leads,
